A holistic approach to health and wellbeing

We are here for you! Wherever you are.

Welcome to Carers’ Holistic Health and Wellbeing

As a mother and carer of a child who has different diagnoses (including a rare physical condition), I understand firsthand the challenges that can come with these complexities. In the beginning, I personally had very little support and I really didn’t have any idea as to where to start finding supports. So, Cares Holistic Health and Wellbeing began in hope that I could assist others in finding supports that they may need or find useful along the way.

At times over the years, it had been a hard and stressful journey. For many years, I struggled to juggle home and work life, navigate hospitals, surgeries, post-surgery trauma, NDIS, schools, then homeschooling, while trying to get my head around so many different diagnoses, as well as find therapists, supports, organising reports, medications, and advocating for my child in many areas.

I had always been a social person, so it was a hard adjustment at that point to realise life was not going to be the same for awhile. At that stage it become a challenge to maintain friendships as they took energy, which at that point I didn’t have. I found a lot of people can find it hard to understand, don’t have the time to understand or simply don’t want to understand. Sometimes even the people who are close to us, may not know the extent and continuation of stress and pressure that can go on behind close doors.

I was completely fatigued and didn’t realise the degree of what was going on with my body.  I was hard on myself wondering why I couldn’t just manage “a normal life’’ or commit to an exercise regime or even just a daily walk. I remember thinking what on earth is wrong with me!?! I wanted to be living and feeling “normal”  but it was a struggle.

Carer burnout is REAL and the most important thing I learned through all of this was how important it is for everyone to have connection and support with people who understand and also more than ever, the importance of self-care.

The importance of self-care and looking after my own nervous system has become top priority to assist in functioning better for my own health and functioning well for my child. As I shift into a better emotional and mental space, I wanted to create a space to support others. It’s my intention that by starting this community, other carers will know that they have support available and have connections with others who understand. Even if you cannot attend in person to receive individual treatments or group sessions, there are online options to make sure it’s possible for you to connect with us and us with you.

I have been a Holistic Health and Wellbeing Practitioner since 2004 and I am here to support you.

This website is a place created to genuinely support ALL carers and their families by giving options of therapists from all different backgrounds to help support you in your journey. Therapists that have a genuine care, interest, and compassion in this area.

With much love,
Amanda
